SHINEDOWN Singer: 'There's Nothing That You Can't Accomplish As Long As You're Willing To Work For It'
January 3, 2019SHINEDOWN singer Brent Smith recently spoke to the WDHA radio station about the symbiotic relationship that exists between his band and its fan base.
"We only have one boss — it just happens to be everybody in the audience," he said (see video below). "That's not lip service and that's not phoned in — that's real. All of these people that are here tonight — no matter what country we're in, no matter what city — if they show up, then they're supporting the band. They're the only reason we can continue to do it. We just want it to continue to grow."
He continued: "We're not ever gonna be satisfied — it's just not gonna happen — mainly 'cause we just don't believe in a 'top.' I think if you accomplish something, then do something else. Go to the next level. Go to the next step. Don't get desensitized to the time that you're here on this earth, 'cause you're not promised any kind of time frame. You've gotta make every single moment, every single second count. And I think that's very, very important to our fan base, whether they've been there from the beginning or whether they're just finding out who the band is."
Smith added: "One thing about us is that we are never going to pigeonhole you, put you in a corner and make you feel inferior. That's not the way we do things and that's not the way we are. We want people to be empowered by the fact that… If you really wanna accomplish something — in my personal opinion — there's nothing that you can't accomplish as long as you're willing to work for it."
"Attention Attention", SHINEDOWN's sixth studio album, debuted at No. 1 on the Top Rock Albums chart back in May 2018. The follow-up to 2015's "Threat To Survival" marked SHINEDOWN's first full-length effort to be produced entirely by bassist Eric Bass.
SHINEDOWN will embark on a U.S. headlining tour in February. Support on the trek will come from PAPA ROACH and ASKING ALEXANDRIA.
